No matter how high spec the technology is of the audio source, be it your TV, music system or even your PC, unless the speakers you use have sufficient quality, the sounds you hear will not do any of them justice. That is why after hearing high praise for these Elac speakers we wanted to test them out for ourselves to see if they were as good that praise suggested.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers

Any company which has been around for over 90 years obviously knows a thing or two about the products it makes which is why Elac has a reputation within the audio equipment market as a superlative manufacturer.

That reputation includes the speakers which they make, and with the Debut 2.0 6.2 bookshelf speaker, they have improved on the previous version which was the B6.

Improvements include a new woofer design and the tweeter has also been upgraded. This has led to this speaker receiving awards and accolades from several audio industry magazines.

Who is this product for?

It is tricky to pigeon-hole these speakers given that their appeal is very wide. Firstly, their price bracket isn’t one that should raise too many eyebrows, other than it might seem too low for such a high-quality product.

As we’ve just mentioned quality the appeal of the Debut 2.0 B6.2 is obviously going to be the very high sound quality that they can produce, so whether it is music or games being played, they hit the mark.

They are also classified as bookshelf speakers meaning they can be placed on desks, tables or shelves which will be ideal for those for whom larger speakers would take up too much space.

What’s included?

This is an easy one in the sense that what you will receive are the two ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers along with the user’s manual. Please note that they do not come with any speaker wire unless you have selected that option, so you will need to purchase some separately.

Overview of features

The versatility of the B6.2 speakers due to their size means that they can either be placed on the floor or off the floor such as on a table, for example.

One aspect of the cabinet design is the internal bracing which adds a couple of benefits. First, it adds to the overall strength and durability of the speakers to prolong their lifetime. Second, the bracing reduces the amount of vibration which is created and thus the chances of unwanted marking being created.

The specs in terms of sound output are that it can handle up 120 watts of sound power which should ensure that the soundtracks from the most dynamic of movies and the loudest notes from your favorite music tracks can be heard in all their glory.

These quality sounds are possible thanks to the newly designed  1-inch tweeter which is made from silk and the upgraded 6.5 inch aramid-fiber woofer. These enhancements mean that high-frequency sounds and deep bass sounds can be heard with equal clarity. Incidentally, that range of frequencies is 44Hz to 35kHz, which is greater than many similar speakers.

One last thing to note is that the front grille can be removed if preferred.

How to use it

Setting up the speakers is extremely easy, although, as always, we recommend you read the user’s instructions before you start. Prior to connecting your speakers to the audio source, you should position them where you plan to sit them, and then ensure that you cut sufficient lengths of speaker wire.

If you are placing the speakers on the floor and adjacent to a wall there is a small safety clip on the back which you can use to tie to support hooks. The support hooks are not supplied but you are advised to get some as they can help prevent the speakers from tipping over.
